What is the JBS?

The Jewish Burial Society, Inc. is a 501c(3) not-for-profit community service organization. The Jewish Burial Society is not a funeral home and does not hold itself out to be a funeral home. No JBS officers or board members are funeral directors.

The Jewish Burial Society helps bereaved Jewish families obtain complete dignified funerals that conform to Jewish law at a low fixed price.

We are able to offer this service by negotiating with cooperating funeral directors for the lowest possible price and the highest quality service. We succeed in obtaining high quality service and low cost because we represent hundreds of Jewish families.

The JBS Funeral Plan is available to all Jewish families in the Chicago area. The JBS funeral plan offers the essentials of a Jewish funeral. Families are not “sold” any products or services that are unnecessary. Families that use the JBS funeral plan save hundreds or thousands of dollars on the cost of a funeral.
